The Story

Chris ran each mile of his life’s “race” well, as a longtime Young Life leader, active member of his community, and man who was well-loved, and loved well. In addition to his family and friends (and UVA!), he also loved to run. His mileage on earth was completed 8 years ago, at the age of 30, as a result of a car accident in Sept. 2005.

The ministry of Young Life forever changed Chris’ life as a high school student many years ago. He went on to become a longtime volunteer with and supporter of Young Life. As a college student at the University of Virginia, Chris was involved in starting the first urban middle school Young Life club in Charlottesville. After college, as he began his career in engineering, he was a volunteer leader in Fauquier County. His friendship and guidance impacted the lives of numerous middle and high school students in Warrenton. Chris could often be found at Rady Park on a Saturday afternoon playing Ultimate Frisbee with a group of teenagers, or sharing a pizza with some guys at Jerry’s on a Monday night after Young Life. Chris would be highly honored for his memory to benefit a ministry that was so near to his heart, and his wife and son are thrilled to see his legacy continue through this event that captures his fun-loving, yet intentional spirit.
